In this article, I’m going to feature Hsu from Myanmar, she lives in Japan.

I participated in an event related to Burmese culture held in Tokyo with her and wanted to go to Myanmar with interest.

Let’s get to the interview

How did you learn Japanese?

Before I came to Japan, I was a tour guide to Japanese tourists who came to Myanmar. Bogyoke Aung San Market, Shwedagon Pagoda, Chauk-htat-gyi Buddha Temple etc.

How about your favorite tourist destination in Japan?

Hsu : Kamakura (鎌倉) was good. I have visited twice until now, because Mandalay (Mahamuni Great Buddha) in Myanmar resembles the Great Buddha in Kamakura.

Tell me about popular artists in Myanmar

Hsu : Sai Sai Kham Hlaing is Burmese singer. I love him. but Korean movies and music are popular in Myanmar. I recently watched Crash Landing On You. So I want to go to Switzerland haha.

What makes you feel inconvenient when you live in Japan?

Hsu : Compared to Burmese, Japanese care more about what others think. Very uncomfortable.

Tell me your favorite words in Myanmar

From 9pm on May 23rd (GMT + 9), we will have an insta-live to interview her about her life in Japan.
