In 1999 I was born at Sa’ang district, Kandal Province. Which is the province close to the capital city of Cambodia.
My name is originally from my auntie who has killed in Pol Pot regime “Khmer Rouge”
Well, my name is Vuochnea Englee but most people called me Lee as they couldn’t pronounce Vuochnea properly. However, there is a story I want to share you the history about my name. Vuochnea was my auntie name who has killed in Pol Pot regime (Khmer Rouge). She is the second daughter of my grandparents. During 1976 she was killed because of cheating foods for her parents. She steals the foods and mangoes almost every day. One day she was caught by Khmer rouge army and rapped and punished her so badly until she died. And the reason why my grandparents named me as my auntie name because they thought I am look really similar to my aunt when I was small. The character, appearance, and my little talk.
[What is your country proud of and why]
Being a Cambodian, we proud of Angkor Wat and people can see it in our national flag.
Lee : Being a Cambodian, we proud of Angkor Wat and people can see it in our national flag. The colors of the flag of Cambodia hold great significance to the nation. The two colors represent the bravery of the nation, liberty, cooperation and brotherhood. The flag also features a depiction of the Angkor Wat, which symbolizes justice, heritage and integrity.
[What is your favorite quote and whose]
“Don’t make today regret, do it the best”
Lee : My favorite quote which is one from my grandpa is “Don’t make today regret, do it the best”. This quote was telling by my grandpa when I was as grade 6th. He wants to keep me strong and don’t give up easily. Do whatever I want all my best so when the result come out even bad or good I won’t regret.
[What is your favorite dish? In your country’s cuisine]
Lee : I don’t have any specific favorite dishes. I can every type of foods but I don’t eat too much. However, I have favorite drink. I prefer drinking coffee (specific to Ice latte and Cappuchino frappe), drinking babble tea (Taiwan milk tea machhaeito)
[What would you do if you had $ 10 billion?]
I could help many people by offering job and decrease importing form other countries
Lee : To me if I have had $10 billion, I would love to make my own flower field to support the local market, Cambodia. Cambodia import many kinds of flowers such as Rose, Jasmine…. from the neighbor countries with the big amount of money every year. So if I could build up my dream business succeed, I could help many people by offering job and decrease importing form other countries which help my own country economic grow.
[What is the most popular thing in your country right now]
Lee : I can say that the popular thing in my country right now is camping and hiking. Due to the Covid 19 took long time and the government not allow people to go to any crowded places like, Pup street, Bars, Clubs, casino……That’s why people prefer to camping in the remote place in countryside in order to decrease going to the crowded places and cut down stresses. However, for local people in Siem Reap they prefer cycling and you can see people cycling every area in Siem Reap.
