What is “Yoke thé”
Yoke thé literally “miniatures” is the Burmese name for marionette puppetry. Myanmar’s traditional performing arts are especially famous in Mandalay. It moves according to the performance and song of traditional music. A horse and human doll that dances comically. The movement is surprisingly expressive. It seems that skill and considerable practice are required to operate the doll.
You can see this doll in Bagan, a World Heritage city in Myanmar. We also tried selfie a few times, like the people in this picture, but when the wind blew the dolls went in an unexpected direction so we couldn’t take the picture well.
